Pricing & Estimates Policy

We kindly ask that all initial enquiries are made via email, with a clear and accurate description of the work required. Where possible, please include recent photographs of the vehicle. This allows us to assess the project properly and provide the most accurate estimate.

Please note that we are unable to view projects at a customer’s premises. Site visits or call-outs are only offered under special circumstances and at our discretion.

 

Estimates vs Quotations

Due to the bespoke and investigative nature of classic car restoration, fabrication and custom work, we are only able to provide estimates, not fixed quotations.

Once work begins, it is common to uncover hidden issues such as corrosion, previous poor repairs, or structural defects. These factors can significantly affect labour time and costs and cannot always be identified in advance.

Our labour charges vary depending on the type and complexity of work required. Trade discounts and loyalty rates may be available for returning customers, subject to agreement.

 

Labour Rates

Our current labour rates are as follows:

• Restorations and bare-metal paint commissions
  (150 hours +) – £65 per hour + VAT

• All other fabrication, mechanical and paintwork
  £75 per hour + VAT

• Specialist welding services and aluminium fabrication
  £85 per hour + VAT

Labour rates are reviewed annually to reflect demand, skill level, and inflation.

 

Parts, Materials & Third-Party Costs

Parts, materials, consumables, coatings, outsourced services, and specialist processes are charged in addition to labour unless stated otherwise. Prices may vary depending on availability and supplier costs at the time of ordering.

Where rare or custom parts are required, lead times and pricing are outside of our control.

Booking Deposits & Cancellations

A booking deposit is required to secure workshop time. This deposit is credited back on your first invoice.

Please note:

• Deposits are non-refundable in the event of no-shows or late cancellations.

• Missed bookings directly impact our production schedule and waiting list.

 

We currently operate a waiting list of up to 24 months for full restorations, so careful planning is essential.

Project Timescales

We ask all clients to understand that restoration work is not a fixed-timescale process. This is real-world craftsmanship, not television.

While we always aim to work within an agreed budget range and timescale, unforeseen issues can and do arise. Completion dates are estimated only and cannot be guaranteed.

Payment Plans & Progress Updates

For larger commissions, we are happy to offer structured monthly payment plans by agreement.

Each invoice is supported by access to a private photo journal, documenting progress and providing a full visual record of your build for your own records and future value.

 

Acceptance of Work

By booking work with Old Bones Fabrications Ltd, you acknowledge and accept:

• Labour is charged on a time-spent basis

• Estimates may change as work progresses

• Hidden issues may affect cost and timescale

• Deposits and workshop time are subject to this policy
